Gulab Jamun Recipe


Gulab jamun has always been a favorite dessert for many people. There are several variations in preparing gulab jamun. I have prepared it with instant gulab jamun mix. Especially gulab jamun with ice cream is my all time favorite dessert. Gulab Jamun recipe is a very easy recipe and can be prepared by even beginners. Lets check out the recipe by step by step pics.

Ingredients :

Gulab Jamun mix powder - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 1/2 cups
Water - as required
Ghee/oil - for frying

Method :

  • Firstly, in a kadai take 1 1/2 cups of sugar with 2 cups of water and get to a boil.
  • Then simmer it till the sugar syrup turns sticky to one string consistency.
  • Cover it and keep it aside.
  • take a mixing bowl and add the instant gulab jamun mix powder into it. 
  • Slowly add water and knead it into a smooth and soft dough.
  • Let it rest for 10 mins.
  • Now grease your hands with ghee and make small balls from the dough.
  • Make sure not to have any cracks in making the balls otherwise it will break while deep frying. 
  • In a kadai, heat ghee or oil for deep frying the jamuns.
  • Keep the stove on medium flame and drop the balls one by one. 
  • Fry it till the balls turn golden brown by stirring in-between.
  • Switch off the flame and immediately drop the balls into hot sugar syrup.
  • Allow them to rest for atleast 20 minutes.
  • As the syrup gets absorbed the jamuns double in size.
  • Serve hot gulab jamun.

Take water in a kadai


Add sugar and mix well


Bring it to boil and keep aside


Take gulab jamun mix powder in a bowl


Add water and make it into soft dough


Allow to rest it for 10 mins


Grease ghee in hand


Take small portion and make it into balls


Done


Heat ghee in a kadai


Drop the balls one by one


deep fry them


fry till golden brown


Drain them


all done


Drop it into sugar syrup


Allow to rest for 20 minutes
