Simple & Tasty Chicken Gravy


This chicken gravy is very easy to cook and prepared with basic ingredients and also tastes so good.In this recipe you no need to add coconut or coconut milk and no grinding is involved.This is best to be served with rice and chapathi.

Ingredients :

Chicken - 3/4kg
Cinnamon - 1
Cloves - 4
Cardamom - 4
Onions - 3 chopped
Tomatoes - 2 chopped
Green Chillies - 3
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tblsp
Red chilli powder - 2 tblsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tblsp
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Salt - as required
Water - as required
Methi leaves/Coriander leaves - for garnish
Coconut oil - 3 tblsp


Method :

  • Firstly, take the chicken pieces in a bowl and add turmeric powder a pinch and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add whole spices cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.
  • Now add in the chopped onions and green chillies and saute it till it is transparent.
  • Add a little salt, so that the onions easily turns golden brown.
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and saute it till the raw smell goes off.
  • Now add the spice powders like red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder and fry for few minutes.
  • After few minutes, add the chopped tomatoes and if required add a little water and cover & cook on medium flame.
  • Now add the chicken pieces and mix it well with the masala. 
  • Also, add required water and salt as per taste and cook covered the chicken for atleast 20 minutes.
  • Once it is done, garnish the gravy with methi leaves or fresh coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice.

Take all your ingredients


Heat oil and add cinnamon, cloves & cardamom


Add onions and green chillies


Add ginger garlic paste


Add all spice powders


Saute it for a minute


Add chopped tomatoes


Saute till tomatoes turn soft


Add chicken pieces


Coat it well with the masala


Add salt to taste


Mix well


Add water and mix well


Cover and cook 


Garnish with methi leaves


Serve
